May 27 is International Crop Duster's Day. For nearly 101 years, aerial applicators have provided and continue to provide a safe, affordable and abundant food supply! The food you eat, the clothes you wear, the bioenergy you use was likely smiled upon by the services of an ag aviator. We give thanks to them on this day, and every day for the job they do to protect our food, forests, and the public health in general.

The sustainable beauty of cover cropping is documented here. Newly planted corn is emerging (zoom into strip to see small corn plants) surrounded by red and white clover aerially applied last fall. The bees are loving the habitat and nutrition provided by the clover-blossoms. After blossoming, the bees depart, the clover will terminate at the corn's V3 stage (once it has three visible collared leaves) and then the corn will gobble up the nitrogen left from the terminated clover.
