On this day in cooperative history, Mr. Brock T. White and Claude V. Smith attended a regional meeting for the United Wool Growers Association, which was new to our area, in 1930.

Rockingham Cooperative had been pooling wool for its members for several years by this point, but it was thought that the United Wool Growers Association might provide additional benefits to producers so the cooperative sought to partner with this nationwide organization.

Joining Rockingham Cooperative in participation with the United Wool Growers Association was Shenandoah Cooperative Farm Bureau & Augusta Cooperative Farm Bureau.

On this day in cooperative history, national Farm Bureau representative - Mr. Nelson B. Rue - began presenting on what the Farm Bureau had to offer to farmers in Rockingham County. Representatives from the Farm Bureau, the Farmers Union & The Grange were all given the opportunity to present their organization to area Farmers Clubs in 1921 before the community clubs eventually decided that the Farm Bureau would be their best chance at cooperative organization, and the rest is history!
