General Manager – Welding & Steel Fabrication Shop
Location: Hampton SC
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: 60k minimum base salary + commisions / bonuses
Base pay amount depends on experience
About Us
We’re a busy, fast-moving welding and steel fabrication shop that takes pride in doing things right the first time. We handle everything from structural steel and custom fabrication to repairs, field work, and heavy industrial projects. We’re looking for a hands-on General Manager who knows the trade, knows how to run a crew, and isn’t afraid to get their boots dirty when needed.
What You’ll Do
-Run day-to-day shop operations and keep production moving smoothly.
-Plan jobs, schedule crews, and make sure deadlines are hit.
-Work directly with welders, fabricators, and foremen to keep quality high and rework low.
-Keep the shop safe, clean, and organized—no shortcuts.
-Review blueprints, check specs, and make sure jobs go out the door right.
-Manage inventory and equipment maintenance.
-Handle customer communication, job updates, and problem-solving.
-Watch job costs and budgets so the shop stays profitable.
-Help hire, lead, and develop a strong team that takes pride in their work.
What We’re Looking For
-Solid experience in welding/steel fabrication (you’ve been in shops, not just offices).
-Proven leadership—people listen to you because you’ve “been there.”
-Strong understanding of MIG/TIG/Stick welding, fabrication processes, and steel work.
-Ability to read prints, plan jobs, and coordinate multiple projects at once.
-Good communicator who can talk with customers, vendors, and crews.
-Organized, dependable, and not afraid to make decisions.
-Safety-minded, quality-focused, and able to keep a shop or job site running efficiently.
