The North Shore could truly use your support right now. From Haʻula to Haleʻiwa, our communities remain open for business, but we are facing a serious economic challenge. Many local businesses are reporting up to an 80% decline in activity.
Our community depends on a delicate balance of local residents, military support, and tourism. We kindly ask for your understanding: please avoid traveling to the flooded areas of Wailua unless you are there specifically to offer support and assistance.
We’ve also received numerous reports from visitors staying in Waikīkī who have been told:
• “Don’t go to the North Shore”
• “Roads are closed”
• “Locals don’t want tourists”
• “Everything is shut down”
These statements are simply not true and are significantly impacting our entire community. Many employees of North Shore businesses live in Wailua and Haleʻiwa, and their livelihoods are directly affected.
Now more than ever, we need your support.
Aloha, and mahalo nui loa for your care, understanding, and continued support
