KP Reddy wrote something this week that's worth slowing down for.

His argument: AEC has rewarded familiarity. Technology rewards what works. Those two things are converging.

His core argument is that relationships are no longer a substitute for performance. While relationships are often built on reliable success, they can also lead to complacency.

In an AI-driven future, the competitive edge will go to those using the latest methods and technology to measurably improve schedule, cost, and safety outcomes.

Technology rewards what works. AEC rewards what’s familiar.

Lovely to be recognized by one of our best customers...

Karen Petersburg [SVP Design & Engineering, Powerhouse Data Centers] featured Qnect's case study data in a new book - Greener Data by Jaymie Scotto & Associates. Here's what it said: "Companies like Qnect exemplify this integration...On a 208,000-square-foot, 1,700-ton data center project, the fully connected steel model was delivered in four weeks -- a four-to six-week schedule acceleration despite major design revisions. The integrated approach yielded substantial benefits: 32 tons of steel saved, 43,770 kg of embodied carbon eliminated, 6,830 fewer bolts, 1,786 fewer copes cut, 638 fewer stabilizer plates, and 2,552 linear feet of shop welding removed. Steel er****on was reduced by six days, with only 15 RFIs and zero change orders."

The conventional steel bid spread on a typical project runs as high as 15% between bidders.

On projects delivered with Early Connected Models — where connection engineering and detailing are resolved up front— we consistently see the bid spread drop to 3%-6% (on an 18,000 ton complex hospital project).

That compression isn't a coincidence. When fabricators are pricing a fully resolved scope instead of an ambiguous one, they factor in less risk. Bids come in tighter and lower. The savings are real, and they show up on bid opening day.

Another meaningful keynote at Green Building Initiative (GBI)'s . As Noah Goldstein stated, Google is focused on reducing carbon in steel and concrete. For the Google team, every day saved in schedule results in an additional $3M in revenue. Imagine what saving 6 weeks in the superstructure design-fab-erect can mean to an owner!

In construction and steel, safety is everything. We protect workers from physical hazards every day with hard hats, harnesses, and protocols. But mental health is workplace safety too.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, let's expand what "safety culture" means. Ask your team how they're really doing. Because at the end of the day, no bolt count or schedule savings is worth more than the people making it happen.

Happy Earth Day.
By connecting models early with Qnect’s Early Connected Model process (ECM) we were able to save 1,560 tons of steel this past year, which is roughly the carbon equivalent of 131,180 mature trees*, or 72 acres of trees.

*Counting the carbon sequestered in one year.
