In late 1935, The NAPA Network member companies formed their own company to “re-package” parts manufactured by others. The new company purchased parts from various manufacturers and redistributed to NAPA warehouses, thus developing NAPA’s own private purchasing company.

The NAPA Board of Directors formed the Balkamp Manufacturing Corporation on March 11, 1936, named after two early managers, John Baldwin and his assistant, Bob Leerkamp.

Balkamp provided an advantage for distributing replacement parts and accessory items for passenger cars and off-road, marine and farm equipment. By 1941, Balkamp had 18 employees, operating out of an 8,000 square foot facility.

Today, Balkamp has NAPA product distribution centers in Plainfield, Indiana, Nashville, Tennessee and Salt Lake City, Utah, serving approximately 6,000 NAPA stores in the U.S. and UAP distribution centers in Canada. Through strategic operations, they ensure delivery within 48 hours of order receipt.

Teammate collaboration and strong supplier relationships have led to Balkamp’s success and customer satisfaction.
