We were fixing up this Poulan chainsaw that looked nearly brand new, but it wouldn’t start. After digging in, we found heavy scoring on the piston and cylinder, causing low compression and a dead motor.

We believe this happened because the gasoline and oil weren’t being mixed properly. Just a reminder: proper fuel mix ratios and regular air filter cleaning are critical on two-strokes. Running the wrong mix or a dirty filter can destroy a top end fast—even on newer equipment.
