FRESH OFF THE FARM

I had a background in metal machining running standard manual machines working as a machinist in the small town where I was born, Rockwood, Tennessee and had gotten out of the trade due to the decline of need for us old manual machinists. Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines had made leaps and bounds in commonality and affordability and it pretty much was the end of the road for a lot of us old machinists. I got out of the business and carried some of my knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) into a new phase in my working career working as a Civil Engineering Designer. Even though I had retained my outlet of art and creativity by working in computer graphics, I still had an itch that needed scratching which was working with machinery. That is where I am in my happy place. I stumbled over an ad for a new machine online one afternoon and I decided to purchase one. My sister-in-law Rebecca Warren along with my wife Ellen opened a shop in downtown Grimesland, North Carolina and picked up the Dixie Belle Paint line to sell in the shop. They started having paint classes using Dixie Belle and needed subject matter for their classes. I was eventually called upon to use my new machine to cut pieces out of wood for them to paint in their classes. That’s how it all began. If it hadn’t been for Rebecca and Ellen taking that plunge into opening their shop, Signopoly would likely not ever have existed. Fast forward to today. We take pride in making quality wood cutouts for hundreds of clients all over the United States. Wood products and decorations are a beautiful way to add a personal touch to your home. We shifted our efforts in the direction of wood decor several years ago and while we still do vinyl signs, monogramming and commercial vinyl signage it’s generally only by special request.
