When it comes to brakes, we recommend identifying the cause immediately. If you're driving, pull over and identify the cause. 🇺🇸 HAPPY LABOR DAY FROM HARRY K NAPA

Today is a good day to recognize the people who keep things moving.

The farmers who start before daylight.

The ranchers who don’t get weekends off.

The mechanics who keep everybody else’s vehicles running.

The truck drivers who haul what we need.

The construction crews, electricians, plumbers, welders and tradespeople who build and repair the things we depend on.

And all the men and women who simply show up every day and do their jobs well.

We get to know a lot of those people across the counters at our three stores.

They’re our customers.

They’re our neighbors.

And they’re a big part of what keeps our small communities going.

So today, no sales pitch.

Just a sincere thank you for the work you do.

🔋 DID YOU KNOW? YOUR BATTERY DOESN’T HAVE TO BE DEAD TO BE BAD.

Your vehicle starts this morning, so the battery must be good.

Right?

Not necessarily.

A battery can still start your vehicle while gradually losing its ability to deliver the power it was designed to provide.

Some warning signs:

🔹 The engine cranks a little slower than it used to.

🔹 Your lights dim when you start the vehicle.

🔹 You’ve needed a jump recently.

🔹 The battery is several years old.

🔹 Everything seems fine…until the first really cold morning.

And in South Dakota, we know that morning is coming. 🥶

That’s why testing a battery before it fails makes a lot more sense than discovering the problem when you’re already late for work.

Headed somewhere for Labor Day weekend?

Before you load the cooler and hit the road, give your vehicle 10 minutes.

Pop the hood and check:

🔋 Battery — Slow cranking lately? Don’t wait until you’re 200 miles from home.

🛢️ Oil — Check the level and take a look underneath for leaks.

🌡️ Coolant — Hot weather and highway miles can expose a weak cooling system.

🛞 Tires — Check the pressure, tread and don’t forget the spare.

💦 Washer Fluid & Wipers — Bugs + a dirty windshield + bad wipers = a miserable drive.

💡 Lights — Headlights, brake lights and turn signals.

And here’s one people forget:

Take a look at your serpentine belt.

🔵 BEHIND THE COUNTER: THE PEOPLE WHO FIND THE PART

Finding a part online is easy.

Finding the right part? Sometimes that’s a different story.

At Harry K NAPA, our counter people spend their days answering questions like:

🔧 “I’ve got a 20-year-old pickup and I’m not sure which engine it has.”

🚜 “This came off my tractor. Can you figure out what it is?”

🔋 “I need a battery for something that isn’t in your book.”

⚙️ “Here’s the old part. I need another one just like it.”

Sometimes there’s a part number.

Sometimes there’s a make and model.

And sometimes a customer walks through the door, sets a greasy old part on the counter and says:

“You got one of these?” 😄

That’s when experience matters.

Computers and catalogs are great tools. But knowing where to look, what questions to ask and how to solve the problem is what a good parts person brings to the counter.

That’s something we’re pretty proud of at Harry K NAPA.
