After 50 years working in the construction industry, 37 of them here at Exterior Supply, I have decided to step aside and enter retirement. Today, I closed on the sale of Exterior Supply of Greenwood, to Wood Insulating and Vinyl Siding of Anderson, SC. Yesterday, we closed the doors for the last time as Exterior Supply, to be reopened Monday as Wood Insulating.
It has been my pleasure to serve the builders, remodelers, and homeowners of the Greenwood Lakelands & Upstate communities. This 37-year roller-coaster journey has been more than I ever could have expected. All in all, its been exciting, and an incredible blessing, even if not all fun and games. But in the words of Frank Sinatra, “Regrets, I’ve had a few, but then again, too few to mention.”
There’s no way to thank everyone, but certainly I owe many thanks to Dwight, faithful and loyal for 26 years… and Vince, the same for 16 years. And Pinky’s unique contribution for the past 5 years enabled us to reach new heights, culminating in making 2021 our biggest year ever.
And then, there’s the unsung heroes. No one will ever know all that Jim Emily did to make all of this possible. During the really bad years, he gave of himself selflessly, without hesitation, and sometimes without pay, to help me pull through. I literally would not have made it without him, and I am forever in gratitude to him.
Above all, Michele has walked with me every step of the way. She has served as my employee when necessary, my confidant, helpmate, inspiration, and shoulder to cry on when needed. She always supported me, believed in me, and lifted me up in prayer. She is my rock and my hero.
And finally of course, you, the customers. You’re the very reason for our existence. Every purchase you made, you had a choice to make it elsewhere, but you chose us. But above that, you made it enjoyable, and I thank you for that.
So please accept my heartfelt thanks and best wishes. I pray for God’s grace and blessings on you all.
