A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for portions of northern New York and much of Vermont outside of the Champlain Valley. Snow begins this evening and continues through early Monday which could impact the Monday morning commute. 3 to 6 inches of snow is expected with up to 10 inches for elevations above 2,500 feet.

WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM FRIDAY TO 2 PM EDT SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 11 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Hamilton and Northern Herkimer Counties.

* WHEN...From 11 AM Friday to 2 PM EDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult. Heavy snow will reduce visibility to less than a half mile at times. Maximum snowfall rates will reach 1 inch per hour at times.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will develop late Friday morning into early Friday afternoon and will become heavy at times. Snow will persist in most areas Friday night into early Saturday afternoon.
