I love Mike Rowe. He's right too, about everything.
The United States is in a huge manufacturing deficit. We need to encourage young adults to get into machining, welding, and ship building, not into several hundred grand of student debt and nowhere to go with it.
In World War 2 the United States produced 197 planes & 6 to 7 ships PER DAY on average. China began using communist/slave labor to encourage us to outsource to them. Today we can't even produce our own ships at replacement rate, if they work.
We need to feed our workforce with machinists and manufacturers if we ever want to produce microchips large scale. Chips required for everything you do like pumping gas, calling 911, and reading this now; chips that affect global politics and logistics in exponential factors when over 90% of the entire worlds supply on advanced chips are currently made in a single country, Taiwan.
Your local machine shop has an $18hr job for you right now if you knock on the door, everyone is hiring. Don't send your kid to fast food for a high school job.
