Recently 10K Engineering finished a design build project featuring a UR robot to automate a process and reduce labor for Fort Recovery Industries, Inc.
Challenges
1) Cycle time (6 second target)
2) This was attempted before WITHOUT success
3) Quality control, failed parts passed on
Outcome
We worked this project in phases to test each assumption and manage early investment.
Phase 1: Simulate the cycle, is 6 seconds even realistic. Realized we would need a dual EOAT.
Phase 2: Build simplistic system and prove out the cycle time with real parts. Had to modify the process which was previously done by hand
Phase 3: Final build, re-use as many components from Phase 2.
RESULT:
- 5 second cycle time
- Reduced operator count from 8-12 down to 4-6
- Consistent quality
Do you need to improve quality and reduce operators? Let’s talk about it.
💯 Shoutout to Allied Automation Inc. for their support
