About Klene Pipe Structures
After Ralph Klene returned home from WW ll, along with his English bride Doris, he worked his family farm with his father. In 1949, he opened a local machine shop called “Klene & Henery Machine Company,” to service the local farmers in and around Greensburg, Indiana. It was in that machine shop that he began to build hog shades and corn cribs from used oil well pipe. In 1954, Ralph opened the “Ralph Klene Pipe Company” and sold his farm products made from pipe, that was the same year his youngest son Robin was born. By then, the company serviced the Greensburg area and surrounding counties. For years the company grew under the leadership of Ralph Klene and then in 1986, Ralph lost his long fought battle with Cancer.
Robin Klene went to work for his dad in 1972 doing what any young kid does fresh out of high school, sweeping floors and trying to learn something useful. By 1986, Robin had learned enough from his dad to take over the business. In 1989, Robin changed the name to “Klene Pipe Structures” and the business expanded to cover all of Indiana and the surrounding states. By 1994, Klene Pipe Structures had expanded to the east coast and opened another company called “Horse Sense Building Frames” in Connecticut. By the year 2000, Klene Pipe Structures was selling its product in every state east of the Mississippi.
2004 was a special year for the company, that was the year Robin came up with the idea for the H-8 hay saver. He figured out a cost effective way to ship the H-8 and portable building frames all across the country and now Klene Pipe Structures is servicing 49 states and parts of Canada.
Over the years, Klene Pipe Structures has built a reputation in the industry that is second to none, that’s why so many colleges and Universities use our products exclusively. In fact, in 2010, Clemson University put out a bid for building frames with their specifications and we were the only company who could meet their standards.
