With the steel fabrication and blasting done on this 80’ Residential Spud Barge it’s time to apply the coatings. A quality coating system will add years to the life of a barge or dock. While our competitors roll on a cheap quick coat of coal tar epoxy, here at Melrose we use a 3 stage process. We start with abrasive blasting the metal to “white” finish then apply a zinc rich primer and top it off with two coats of a high solid’s epoxy. This is done with a high pressure 45:1 airless sprayer that shoots the coating at 3,000 psi and will result in a 6mil dry film thickness. A better coating process will make for many years of care free maintenance. Many of our barges are still in service for over 35 years, contact us today for all your marine needs.
