🚨 BIG ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

After a lot of consideration… we’ve decided to make a major change here at Castle Machine.

Effective immediately, we will no longer be machining metal parts.

We’re pivoting to something with less stress, tighter tolerances, and easier customers…

✨ Homemade candles ✨

Scent options will include:
šŸ›¢ļø ā€œBurnt Coolantā€
šŸ”„ ā€œHot Chipsā€
🧼 ā€œFreshly Cleaned Parts (for once)ā€

Lead times are still long.
Pricing is still confusing.
And yes… we’ll still blame material costs.

Happy April Fools šŸ˜…

Engineers design it…

But machinists figure out how to actually make it. šŸ˜…

Every day in a machine shop is a mix of problem-solving, precision, and a little bit of ā€œwell… this should work.ā€

Behind every finished part is a machinist who had to figure out the setup, the tooling, the tolerances, and sometimes how to make something that looked a lot easier on the print.

Machining isn’t just pushing a button — it’s experience, skill, and patience.

And yes… sometimes engineers need heroes too. šŸ˜‰

I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately…

This industry needs to lean more toward helping each other instead of constantly competing against each other.

Running Castle Machine Company has shown me how hard manufacturing can be — tight timelines, rising costs, hiring struggles, supply chain issues. Most of us small, family-owned shops are just trying to keep our people busy and our doors open.

But here’s what I’ve noticed:

One shop is slow while another is drowning.
One shop turns work away while another is praying for a PO.
One shop guards information while another is trying to learn.

What if we helped more than we competed?

What if instead of undercutting each other, we partnered?
What if instead of saying ā€œthat’s not our problem,ā€ we said ā€œwho can I connect you with?ā€

There is enough work.
There is enough room.
There is enough opportunity.

At the end of the day, we’re all trying to support families — our own and the families of the people who work for us.

I don’t see other machine shops as enemies. I see them as part of the same backbone that keeps American manufacturing alive.

Stronger together will always win in the long run. šŸ”©šŸ’Ŗ

āš™ļøšŸ What most people don’t understand about running a small machine shop…

When someone sends us a purchase order, we don’t just start making parts.

We start carrying the responsibility.

We buy the material upfront.
We order the tooling.
We schedule the machines.
I make sure payroll is covered.

All before we ever see a payment.

Taking over our family machine shop wasn’t something I had years to prepare for. It happened overnight. And with it came the weight of making sure our team stays working and our customers stay taken care of.

Small shops like ours don’t have corporate backing.

Every decision matters.
Every delayed payment is felt.
Every large material order is a leap of faith.

But we still show up early.
We still push to hit deadlines.
We still take pride in every part that leaves our floor.

Because this isn’t just manufacturing to me.

It’s my dad’s legacy.
It’s our employees’ livelihoods.
It’s my family’s future.

If you support small manufacturers, just know — it means more than you probably realize.

Manufacturing Monday | Showing Up Matters

Here at Castle Machine, our schedules are built around people—not just machines and due dates. Lately, unexpected call-offs and no-shows have made that balance harder, and at times, it puts us in a tough position with our customers.

When plans fall apart, it takes flexibility, communication, and leadership to keep things moving without sacrificing quality. That’s why I try to be as hands-on in the shop as possible—stepping in where I can to support the team and stand behind the commitments we make.

Most importantly, I am incredibly thankful for the people who show up every single day, even when the work is hard and the pressure is high. Your reliability, dedication, and work ethic do not go unnoticed.

Manufacturing isn’t just about making parts—it’s about the people who show up for each other.

Ever wonder what actually goes into making a part in a machine shop?

This video breaks down a small piece of our process at Castle Machine Company — from setup to machining — and shows the kind of precision and attention to detail that happens long before a part ever leaves the shop.

Manufacturing isn’t just pushing a button. It’s experience, problem-solving, and a team that takes pride in doing things the right way.

Mondays are a reminder of why I show up the way I do—learning every day how to balance being a mom and running a business, often at the same time.

My dad always believed leadership wasn’t about staying behind a desk. It was about being present, pitching in, and taking care of your people. I carry that lesson with me, whether I’m heading into a meeting or stepping onto the shop floor after a morning with my boys.

Building on his legacy also means figuring out how to lead with heart—at work and at home—and showing up the best I can in both roles.

Happy Monday—let’s get to work. šŸ’Ŗ

Not every leadership moment happens behind a desk. Some days, when the shop needs it, I’m out on the floor—running the grinder and working alongside the team.

My dad would have much rather been in the shop than behind a desk. He believed in being close to the work, the people, and the process. Stepping onto the floor when I’m needed is my way of honoring that mindset and carrying his legacy forward.
