November 1994 . . .

Thirty years in business is a notable milestone, and the month of thanksgiving is a good anniversary month to reflect on wins, setbacks and lessons learned.

Yesterday our management team set aside time to share individual thoughts on the first five traits of high impact players in Blue-Collar Leadership & Teamwork. It's a good book and working through it is part of our overall effort to lead well. There is always more to learn.

Still playing for the long game.

Two weeks ago these units were 3,200 lb of raw material - cut, drilled and ready for galvanizing. Today they are 19' support towers for high voltage transformers, assembled by our dedicated team of fabricators and ready for delivery to the Greater Bangor area.

“It’s just a pile of steel. . . . .” Au contraire!! Raw material, cut lists, and engineered drawings in the hands of a talented fabricator become pieces to the COOLEST puzzle.

Material cut to exact measurements and holes drilled in precise locations for 3,200 lb of steel is the focus of the first phase. The entire lot will be completed by the end of the week, palletized and shipped by dedicated flatbed to a galvanizing company for a zinc coating that will offer protection and rust prevention. When the pieces return the fabricators will begin the assembly phase, the FUN phase, creating two 19’ tall support systems for high voltage transformers.
Stay tuned!

This giant Bark Reclaim Screw, weighing in at 26,000 lb and measuring 37 inches in diameter x 52 feet long, came to us from a mill in the Midwest. It was worn from moving wood by-products for a facility that produces commercial and specialty paper products.

Rebuilds are a cost-effective option when parts of a worn screw are still viable. This rebuild included new flights (the curved sections welded together to form a helix) and a welded layer of hardfacing. The white finish coat is a wear-resistant application that fights abrasion for a longer wear life.

Loaded and ready to roll down I-95. A special shout out to our dedicated team for another great effort!

Manufactured by skilled individuals, this core chuck was palletized with other products and will arrive at a tissue converting facility on the East Coast next week. When it arrives, machine operators will use it to produce goods that keep our nation running - in this case, household paper products. It is a small representation of what US laborers create every day to improve and support our lives, many in small businesses like our own.

As we look ahead to this Labor Day holiday weekend, we want to publicly express a deep gratitude for all American workers, but especially our own team members who demonstrate a Build it Better and Be Better approach. You deserve a holiday that honors you!

Good news for students considering or already enrolled in the Maine Community College System!

Transfer ME is a pathway for Maine Community College System (MCCS) graduates to bypass the traditional transfer admissions process into the University of Maine System (UMS). Graduates from select UMS-MCCS transfer pathway programs are automatically admitted to one or more of Maine’s public universities based on academic performance and progress.
Transfer ME means:

No application
No test score submissions
No chasing down letters of recommendation
No writing admissions essays
No application fees

Maine Community College students who successfully complete their Associates degree are automatically admitted to Bachelor's Degrees to Maine's Public 4-year Universities.

Our team machined a 2 ¼” tall x 1 ¾” diameter gearset from alloy steel and compression springs. This single replacement part for an industrial milling machine, created solely from a damaged encoder as a sample, significantly reduced downtime for one of our perennial customers.

Marine Cylinder Caps - One of our skilled machinists created these intricate beauties from solid pieces of 4 ¾” 304 stainless steel round bar, with only damaged samples as a guide. The machined parts have ¼” bspp ports, 105mm x 2mm threads and an internal key. We are thankful for our team of dedicated and talented individuals who produce quality products and industrial solutions for countless satisfied customers.
