ABD Engineering & Design congratulates our Senior Acoustical Consultant, Ben Wolf who was just elected as the Membership Secretary for the ASTM International Committee E33 on Building and Environmental Acoustics. The committee currently has jurisdiction of 55 standards, published in the Annual Book of ASTM Standards. Ben started serving in an interim capacity this Fall and was confirmed by a vote over the weekend. Ben is the first contact for new members who apply to be part of the committee and helps keep the committee balanced. Ben is also the technical contact for the E336 standard (noise isolation testing). We at ABD are so proud of Ben and all his accomplishments, especially when he can give back to the industry and community at large.

Scott Storteboom is back at ABD Engineering & Design!
Our Midwest clients will remember Scott as a previous Senior AV Consultant at ABD. Along with his prior experience with us, Scott has a tremendous depth and breadth of experience in audiovisual design and consulting, extending through a variety of positions in film and television production. His last few years as a funding consultant furthered his abilities to help keep projects on budget. We are delighted to have him back on the team!

ABD's Senior Acoustical Consultant, Ben Wolf (left) got to spend a few days in Denver (his hometown) at the ASTM International Committee Week. For 125 years, ASTM has defined and set over 12-thousand standards world-wide, such as the way we perform acoustical testing for open spaces, walls, and floor/ceilings. Ben serves as the Task Group Chair and Technical Contact for Standard E336 (airborne sound attenuation between rooms). We're so proud of Ben's accomplishments and the experience he brings to ASTM and to ABD.

Spaces that sound as good as they look are some of our favorites. It was wonderful working with the Progressive AE team on the Grand Rapids Community College Secchia Institute for Culinary Education event space.

ABD Engineering & Design worked with Progressive AE to provide Room Acoustics recommendations and an audio system design for this unique kaleidoscopic piazza. After sitting for the exam in June, Quincey Smail has passed the Institute of Noise Control Engineers Board Certification (INCE Bd. Cert.) and he's been promoted to Senior Acoustical Consultant. We count ourselves lucky and feel grateful to have him with us. Congratulations Quincey!

Meet the consultant - Quincey Smail
Quincey Smail has worked in acoustics at ABD Engineering & Design since 2016. He is an acoustical consultant, based in Grand Rapids, MI with a Master of Engineering in acoustics from Penn State.
"Q" as many of us call him is ABD's traveler, working on projects in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and the Netherlands. We're so grateful we get to work with Quincey!
