Rows of wire rope — dozens of wires laid into strands, strands laid into rope, engineered so the load and the wear get shared instead of concentrated.

The least glamorous component on a crane, and the one everything else depends on. Which is why it gets inspected, lubricated and retired on a schedule, not on a hunch.

At the controls of every successful lift is a crane operator combining technical knowledge, focus and sound judgment.

Crane operators inspect their equipment, review lift plans and load charts, monitor changing jobsite conditions and work closely with riggers, signal persons and ground crews to execute each lift safely. Operating some of the largest crawler cranes in the industry requires constant communication, attention to detail and a commitment to stopping work whenever conditions are not right.

Offloading a LR 11000 track frame in Florida as we set the machine up for what's next.

A crawler this size isn't one crane — it's a kit. Boom, jib, derrick, counterweight, crawlers. Change the configuration and you change what it can reach, what it can carry, and which jobs it fits.

That flexibility is why a machine like this earns its keep.

Buckner HeavyLift Cranes is looking for an experienced mechanic to join our team on a project in the Boise area. This is a local project based opportunity with the potential to extend with Buckner after this project ends.

What you'll do:
- Inspect, test, maintain and repair large crawler cranes on the job site
- Diagnose hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
- Work closely with our Service Manager to keep the project running safely

What we're looking for:
- 3–5+ years repairing heavy construction equipment
- Able to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Crawler crane experience is a plus. Liebherr and LICCON I/II experience gets priority
- Strong safety habits and working knowledge of OSHA standards
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
