This week’s customer feedback brings us back to seating depth and brass preparation when reloading for gas guns. Then to confidence in your barrel. The first photo is his latest result. The largest group photo was the most unexpected velocity swing I’d ever heard on in a scale.
Despite a scale issue that caused significant charge-weight variations, we were able to help him produce the first group pictured. Before correcting the problem, his velocities ranged from the mid 2500s to the low 2900s—even though his scale was set to the same charge weight.
Not surprisingly, those extreme velocity swings produced his worst groups. Even then, the results weren’t bad at all considering the scale malfunction. The lower photos show those velocity swings on the chronograph.
We take meticulous notes on every chamber we cut—from runout before and after chambering to variations in groove depth and anything else that catches our discerning eye as we complete your order.
It’s one reason I’m not the fastest—and I’m okay with that. When your barrel arrives, it will shoot.
