Responsibilities
Handle internal and external requests for financial data, reports, analysis, etc.
Prepare monthly financial statements and quarterly financial summaries for over 20 departments.
Review transactions and resolve errors, discrepancies, etc.
Assist with variance explanations, rest-of-year forecasts, strategic plans, and budgets.
Reconcile the data of multiple systems (POS, payroll, ERP, bank, etc.).
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts.
Maintain fixed assets listing and calculate depreciation and amortization.
Process inventory counts and donations.
Record and track program-related investments.
Track the progress of grants paid in installments to ensure compliance with grant agreements’ payment timing, amounts, etc.
Create journal entries for payroll runs, PTO adjustments, accrued expenses and grants, prepaid usage, interest earned, depreciation, etc.
Assist with ad hoc projects, such as optimizing the accounting system, implementing new software, customizing reports, and streamlining processes.
Create and maintain finance-related forms, informational listings, how-to guides, etc.
Provide basic training to new employees with regards to finance operations, accounting system navigation, etc.
Monitor and enforce internal controls and accounting policies.
Prepare reports for federal and state tax filings (990-PF, 990-T, CA 199, CA 109) as well as annual external audits of financials and internal controls.
Generate and file 1099s.
Calculate monthly sales tax payments.
Assist with the filing of business registrations and licenses.
Ensure compliance with US GAAP and local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. CPA preferred.
3+ years of private accounting work experience.
Solid understanding of US GAAP.
Proficiency in Excel, Google Apps, and NetSuite.
High degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
Ability to adapt to ever-evolving processes, programs, etc.
Self-starter and team player.
