We recently had the pleasure of hosting a career information session at Rutgers University, where Matthew Draheim, L.L.A. and Maximino Rodrigues, E.I.T. connected with students to discuss career paths and opportunities in land development.
Through their presentation, “Dig into Your Career: From Dirt to Development” Matt and Max brought the land development process to life - walking students through the full project lifecycle. From initial site inventory and due diligence, through feasibility analysis and design, to navigating regulatory approvals and supporting construction administration, they provided a clear, real-world perspective on how ideas transform into built environments.
They also highlighted the diverse range of projects they work on, including residential, commercial, agricultural, and solar developments, giving students a clear sense of how varied and dynamic land development can be.
A sincere thank you to Sonali Jepal, ASCE President at Rutgers, for coordinating the event, and to Rutgers University for the opportunity to engage with future engineers and share our enthusiasm for sustainable land development. Engaging with students and answering thoughtful questions is always a rewarding experience!
