Last month, our team had the pleasure of rolling up our sleeves in a different way at the Kairos Encounter Clay Shoot in support of Spirit First.

We were also proud to partner with Hobel Designs to provide a conceptual design for a new event space that could support future gatherings and outreach efforts.

Grateful for opportunities to give back and connect with the communities we serve.

Some projects are straightforward. Others require balancing history, vision, and modern building requirements.

This project began with a 70–80-year-old home in Knightdale, NC that had undergone multiple renovations and additions over the decades. The new owner was drawn to the property's unique architectural character and envisioned transforming it into a high-end restaurant while preserving the charm that made it special in the first place.

That vision came with significant structural challenges.

To meet current commercial building code requirements while maintaining the home's existing appearance, our team developed a comprehensive structural solution that ultimately required rebuilding the foundation, replacing the interior structural framing system, and engineering connections between the new and existing construction—all while preserving the exterior walls and architectural character of the building.

In addition to the structural renovation, we designed a new rear dining deck and provided ongoing site assessments and inspections throughout the project as conditions evolved during construction.

Projects like this highlight the value of thoughtful engineering—not simply replacing what's there, but finding practical ways to preserve what matters while creating a structure that can safely serve its next chapter for decades to come.

From adaptive reuse projects to complex renovations, Tyndall Engineering & Design helps bring ambitious visions to life through practical engineering solutions and collaborative problem-solving.

The way projects come together is changing.

More builders, developers, and owners are looking for something different than they were even a few years ago — not just individual services, but teams that can work together from the start.

We’re seeing a growing demand for more collaborative, streamlined approaches where engineering, design, and real-world ex*****on are aligned early in the process.

Why?

Because when those pieces come together upfront, projects tend to move faster, with fewer surprises and less rework along the way.

Across a range of project types — from pre-engineered metal buildings to amenity spaces and specialty facilities — that early alignment is often the difference between a smooth build and a challenging one.

It’s not about doing more.
It’s about doing it smarter from the beginning.

Work smarter, not harder. The smartest builds start with the right engineering. Let’s talk.

Our team is committed to delivering exactly that — from permit documentation to field inspections — while keeping the process smooth and efficient for our clients.

We’re grateful for the trust our clients place in us, and we’re proud to deliver work they feel confident in from start to finish.

Most people think engineering is just a step in the process.

In reality, it’s one of the biggest factors in how smoothly your project runs — and how much it ultimately costs.

Here’s why getting engineering involved early matters:

Avoid costly change orders
Making structural changes mid-build can quickly drive up costs and delay timelines.

Prevent structural issues
From soil conditions to load paths, early planning helps eliminate problems before they ever reach the job site.

Speed up permitting & approvals
Well-prepared plans reduce back-and-forth, helping your project move forward faster.

Build with confidence
When everything is aligned from the start, builders work more efficiently and homeowners avoid surprises.

At Tyndall Engineering & Design, we work alongside homeowners and builders from the beginning to ensure projects are done right the first time.

Work smarter, not harder. The smartest builds start with the right engineering. Let’s talk.

25 years ago, Tyndall Engineering & Design started with a simple vision — to do things the right way.

Since then, we’ve grown alongside the communities we serve, expanding across the Carolinas and supporting hundreds of projects along the way.

From early concepts to final construction, our focus has always been the same: delivering thoughtful, reliable engineering that stands the test of time.

We’re incredibly grateful for the clients, partners, and team members who have been part of this journey.

And we’re just getting started. Here’s to 25 years — and what’s ahead.

Every home starts with the ground it sits on.

Soil conditions play a major role in how a foundation performs over time. Poor soil compaction or improper evaluation can lead to issues like settling, cracking, or structural movement later on.

That’s why structural engineers carefully evaluate site conditions before determining the right foundation design.
A well-engineered foundation isn’t just about concrete and masonry — it’s about understanding the environment your home is built on.

Planning a new build or evaluating a property? Our team can help ensure your foundation is designed for long-term stability.
