The back of the brick.
AKA the grooved brick.

The grooves are not a special add-on.
They come from how the brick is made.

Extruded as a duplex.
Back to back.
The grooves are where the two bricks were connected when extruded and fired.
Later they get snapped apart.

What you get is texture.
But not too much.

I have seen the grooved brick with matte and metallic glazes.
They are different!!

We have not given this one much air.
It deserves some.

We glaze on request.
Same glaze colors as the smooth face.
Just order it grooved.

Question for you:
How would you use it?

Focal wall.
Entry offset.
A whole face of a building.
Or something I have not thought of yet.

I want to be everything to you.

Artillo octagon.
Eight inch concrete tile.
Labeled khaki in my archives.
Looks like Charlie Brown to me.

A lot of times pictures don't tell the truth.
Concrete is porous.
Grout will change it.

I'm not saying there's a grout stain here.
But the label and the room are not the same thing.

One of the cool things about our concrete tile.
You can buy it sealed or unsealed.
Seal it yourself on the job before you grout.
Or let the grout do a little work.

Some people think that is a bad thing.
I don't.
It's one more lever for a homeowner or a designer.
Make the space uniquely theirs.

What caught my eye is the octagon.
Deep color.
Formal.
Elegant.
Hexagon is freer.
More my personal favorite.
In this Pasadena Spanish Revival bath, the octagon really works.

That little horse tile is not ours.
I didn't make it.
I want to make it.
I want to be everything to you.
Alas, I cannot.
I'm just human.
So is Arto. Made by a bunch of humans.
If you can't find that horse, we could make it.
Or grab four or five from a good artisan and work them with Arto.
