Poncey Forge

Poncey Forge After playing around as a hobby blacksmith for almost a year, many of my friends have said I should start selling my items. For those of you who dont know me.

So this is a page to do so and for my fans to see my progress and unique items. My name is Ethan Robinson. I'm a husky guy with a fantastic black beard. I've always been good at making things and have a life goal to do the things that I stereotypically look the part for. I've been a logger, carpenter, timber framer, firearm salesman and now a hobby blacksmith. I started blacksmithing January of 20

20, what a year to start anything. I scavenged and saved materials for over a year to make my first forge. It was a large brake drum with a badly welded, by me, tuyere with a free leaf blower for air. My first anvil was a small chunk of railroad track. While I saved up parts and pieces to start I watched every YouTube video I could on blacksmithing. I am 100% self taught and started the hobby 100% for free. I encourage those interested in the hobby to start as cheap as possible but it would be very beneficial to take classes, as i hope to do someday. I might even teach a few. Poncey Forge is named after the town it's in. Located in the South West Missouri town of Ponce de Leon, Poncey Forge sits at the mouth of the fountain of youth spring. A spring that was once known for its medicinal use. I hope you all enjoy my content and growth in this hobby and please if you want to support the business, buy something I have for sale.

I am getting really nervous. I last minute decided to do another craft fair this Saturday. I have nothing made. I'm freaking out but it's at my home town so no travel expenses, and I'll get to demonstrate what I do to many new people.

If you can, stop by Niangua Fall Fest this Saturday Oct. 14th, 2023.

So, I have spent some time gaining knowledge and supplies to combine my two passions of woodworking and blacksmithing. Very soon Poncey Forge will be selling various stabilized, dyed, and some resin knife scales, handle blanks, and turning blanks.

Got the 110 lb Trenton strapped down on the osage stump. It's much more solid and much quieter.

I didn't make this but I did mill the wood. However, it had to come home with me. So this is my new smithing display board. Be prepared to see this beauty backing up every new thing I forge. I'm in LOVE. Thank you for it.

Here's a new one in lumber form.

On today's episode of what did Ethan cut. What did Ethan cut?

Hint it's not Walnut or related.

Here's some slightly more "traditional" Walnut for those of you who like that kind of stuff. Weirdos.

It's been tough getting out to forge this year. I kind of got burned out last fall, then had a living situation change. Now my shop is several miles from where I'm living, for now, and I just haven't had the motivation. Tonight I went and forged a slot punch and whipped out a bottle opener. It's not perfect but I'm getting back into the swing of things.
