Tau Beta Pi is the oldest and most prestigious engineering honor society. The Florida Alpha Chapter was founded in 1961 and, out of 236 collegiate chapters, is one of the nation's most active. We have been named the Most Outstanding Chapter eight times. Our purpose is to recognize exceptional engineering students, encourage young students to pursue engineering, and serve our local community. To be

eligible for membership, juniors must be in the top eighth of their class, and seniors and graduate students must be in the top fifth of their class; all candidates must demonstrate exemplary character. We have three major programs to encourage young students to pursue engineering degrees: GatorTRAX, SECME, and The TEE Program (tutoring). As TBP gears up for Fall 2019 Initiation ceremony tomorrow night, members and electees are finishing up the last few activities of the semester before break! We had a few GatorTrax sessions at Boulware Springs working with elementary school kids and service events with Street Clean-up and at the Cade Museum and Mill Creek Farm Retirement Home for Horses! We also managed to snag a few last socials at VPizza, Wings Night, Breakfast Club and First Mag Brewery! Congratulations to all electees who made it through the semester!

After Candidate Elections this past Tuesday, the newly minted TBP FL-A electees for this semester enjoyed an electee-only social! The electees had to find and solve various math and science problems in a TBP Scavenger Hunt that brought them to different locations on campus that are significant to the chapter! Members and electess also enjoyed a breakfast club social at Bagels and Noodles! We also worked with K-12 students in our 3rd GatorTrax event of the season, volunteered with Habitat with Humanity and completed our 2nd Street Clean-Up of the semester!
