A global manufacturer needed to adapt a new gear drive to an old mixing system.

A variety of factors led them to contact us and seek a way to use the old mixing shaft with the new drive.

Between old school measuring and field notes, to computers and CAD, a design was made and implemented shortly after.

Custom adapter flanges were machined from 1-1/2" plate and welded to a 1/2" wall tubular housing. An intermediate shaft was machined from 4140 and shrink fit to a drive hub we made from 3" 1018/1020. With a 0.003" interference fit, the weld on the back was unnecessary, but allowed me to sleep better!

This is a glimpse into the manufacturing of a custom gearbox adapter for a global manufacturer.

The upper and lower flanges began life as plasma cut rings of 1.5" A 36 plate and the center support is 16" sch40 pipe (0.500" wall).

This project required collaboration with Devin Peck at Peck Machine Works to pull off in the required timeline. Thanks Devin!

This week I was tasked with creating an adapter to connect three 2.5" fire hoses into one 4" NPT connector.

I believe these are used for flow testing, but I was simply given the technical details and not application specifics.

CAD models were created for patterns and laser files prior to forming and fabrication.

These aluminum jaws have 13" deep holes from one end to the other!

The finished parts were anodized and assembled with guide pins for the customer!

Here's an example of a recent job that we turned out as a Saturday rush.

This 14" x 17" x 1" gearbox mount failed from system overload. The original cast iron part was not available and a replacement was created from a scrap of 1" A36 plate.

Measurements were taken and a CAD model was created.

We utilized the CNC mill to machine the finished component and it was available for the customer to install in time for Monday production!

General labor needed immediately for packing and boxing items to assist moving a small machine shop Gainesville (Quillian's Corner).

I am moving my machine shop and seek a motivated helper to pack/ organize tools and supplies on pallets and in boxes. There is potential for training and/or skilled work beyond this move within my machine shop and a nearby welding shop for the right person. Interested persons should PM me.

Hours are somewhat flexible and pay is determined by your motivation and skill. Organizational skills and attention to detail are more important than brawn in this position.
