To celebrate Yamabe & Horn’s recent 46th anniversary, each employee got $46 to spend with a coworker on pretty much whatever activity they wanted. From lunches and dinners to archery, hiking, four wheeling, laser tag, and even time at the indoor gun range, the team really made the most of it. It was a great reminder of what makes Y&H a success… our people and the relationships we build every day.

Y&H recently wrapped up our annual co****le tournament, and the competition didn’t disappoint! Plenty of friendly rivalries and close matches kept things exciting to the end.

Congratulations to Chris and Sage, who battled their way to the top and earned their spot on the Champions Plaque proudly hanging in our office.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s tournament. Time to start those practice rounds if you plan to make it to the top!

Andrew joined Yamabe & Horn in 2013 and currently serves in our Municipal Engineering Department, leading capital improvement projects for the City of Sanger and coordinating grant applications that help secure vital funding for municipalities throughout the Central Valley.

With a little creativity and a lot of teamwork, we transformed our office into our very own Y&H mini golf course while we upgraded our network!

Prizes were awarded for the most creative hole, the hardest hole, and for the best (and worst) golfers. It was a great way to spend a Friday afternoon with some friendly competition, plenty of laughs, and a few very frustrated golfers as they made their way through the course.

We're excited to share that McKay Romero has officially passed the Professional Engineer exam!

McKay started with Y&H back in 2016 as an intern and has grown into a core member of our Commercial Development Department. He plays a key role in overseeing design and plan production and is a go to mentor for our new hires. He's also our reigning champ in both co****le and ping pong at the office tournaments!

We’re proud to have McKay on the Y&H team and can’t wait to see his continued impact on our projects and culture.

The City of Sanger’s Bethel Avenue corridor just got a major upgrade!

Yamabe & Horn recently completed the full rehabilitation of this one-mile stretch, improving roadway conditions, enhancing pedestrian accessibility, and adding Class II bike lanes to support active transportation. The improvements address long-standing pavement issues and bring the corridor up to modern standards for safety and mobility.

Our team supported the project from start to finish with engineering design, land surveying, construction management, and successful grant preparation.

Our History

Yamabe & Horn Engineering was founded by Ronald Yamabe and Gary Horn in November 1979. Yamabe brought more than 10 years’ experience in municipal engineering and Horn more than five years’ experience in private sector engineering to their own company, a combination that proved itself integral to the continued success of the firm.

Although the principals wore overcoats in the office during their first winter in business to economize on the heating bill, 35 years after Yamabe and Horn opened for business the firm grew from a two-man office to a staff of 38 employees, including licensed civil engineers, licensed land surveyors, designers, GIS specialists, CAD operators, survey crew members and clerical staff.

In 2009, the company moved it’s office into a new 12,000SF corporate building located near Shields and Fowler. The location was designed specifically to provide a more efficient workplace for the staff.
