The Crowley Company

The Crowley Company Leader in digitization, offering scanning services, leading hardware and support services.

A world leader in a very niche industry, The Crowley Company partners with archivists, librarians, records managers and many others to ensure that yesterday's treasures (ie: Presidential papers, membership records, photo collections, original publications, etc.) and every day necessities (corporate and medical records, deeds, county records, etc.) are digitally or micrographically preserved for optimal storage, private or public access and long-term preservation.

When you send materials out for digitization, you shouldn’t have to wonder what’s happening with your project.

As the microform Project Manager in our Service Bureau, Sam helps keep customers informed while coordinating closely with the production team behind the scenes.

That communication can make a big difference when unexpected challenges arise. Older or damaged microfilm, microfiche, and aperture cards can sometimes present issues during production. When something comes up, Sam works with the team to understand the problem, determine what’s possible, and keep the customer informed about the best path forward.

“I really see myself as the bridge between the customer and our production team. I’m constantly moving between those two worlds, making sure both sides understand what’s needed and what’s happening.”

Whether it’s confirming a project detail or navigating a larger quality or timeline concern, Sam helps make sure everyone has the information they need to make the right decisions.
Because sometimes the biggest success is preventing an issue from ever reaching the customer.

Preserving collections is only part of the story.

Making them discoverable, accessible and usable for future generations is what gives digitization its lasting value.

We're proud to support institutions like Baylor University in expanding access to the collections that matter most.

Compliance and preservation can work together, but they aren’t the same.
Compliance helps ensure records meet established requirements and policies. Preservation helps ensure those records remain accessible, reliable, and usable over time.
Successful digitization programs consider both, balancing today’s requirements with tomorrow’s need for continued access.
Because responsible records management isn’t only about what works today, it’s about protecting information for the future.

What should you keep? How long should you keep it? And how will you access it when you need it?

These questions are at the heart of records retention.

Digitization can make records easier to organize, retrieve, and manage, but the technology works best when it supports a clear retention policy and a well-planned workflow.

The true value of digitization isn't measured by the number of files created—it's measured by how many people can access them.

For Baylor University's Riley Digitization Center, digitization has opened the door for students, researchers, and faculty to explore rare, unique collections that might otherwise have remained inaccessible.

Great preservation work doesn't happen alone. 🤝

From launching a new digitization project to improving an established workflow, collaboration helps institutions navigate challenges, adapt to changing needs, and continue expanding access to their collections.

Every project is unique, but the goal remains the same: preserving history and helping ensure it can be discovered by future generations.

Technology enables preservation. People make it possible.

Reliable equipment provides the tools, but a skilled team brings the knowledge, experience, and care needed to turn those tools into successful preservation outcomes.

By investing in both people and technology, organizations can build stronger digitization programs designed to serve their collections for years to come.

No two collections are exactly alike.
One project may involve oversized sheet music, while the next requires capturing the detail of an artist book or a geological sample.
That's why flexible workflows and adaptable imaging solutions are so valuable. They allow institutions to preserve a wide variety of materials without compromising quality.

Reliable equipment keeps digitization projects moving.

Reducing unexpected downtime means teams can stay productive, maintain consistent workflows, and focus their time on the collections in front of them.

When choosing digitization equipment, speed and image quality matter, but don't overlook long-term reliability. The best equipment is technology your team can depend on every day.
