Daily pre-operation inspections are a simple, essential step in protecting your people, equipment, and productivity. From brakes to batteries, knowing what to check—and why—can prevent costly downtime and keep everyone safe.
✅ Don’t skip the checklist. A few minutes up front can make all the difference.
🔍 Before Starting the Forklift (Visual Check):
☑️ Check for visible damage (cracks, leaks, tire condition)
☑️ Inspect forks and mast for cracks, bends, or wear
☑️ Check chains for slack or damage
☑️ Ensure overhead guard is secure and intact
☑️ Look for any fluid leaks under the forklift (oil, hydraulic, coolant)
☑️ Confirm load backrest is secure
☑️ Inspect seatbelt or operator restraint system
⚙️ Operational Check (After Starting):
☑️ Test horn, lights, and backup alarm
☑️ Confirm brake and steering function properly
☑️ Check lift and tilt controls for smooth operation
☑️ Verify parking brake holds
☑️ Ensure battery or fuel levels are sufficient
