There is no room for complacency when it comes to silica safety in the stone industry.

After years of working in fabrication, I know how easy it can be to become comfortable with the way we’ve always done things. But experience should never become an excuse to overlook the hazards we face every day.
In this demonstration, I’m using the Alpha PWC-658 pneumatic cutter/grinder with the Quad-W center water-feed adapter. The system delivers water to both sides of the blade, helping control dust at the point of cutting.

Wet cutting is an important part of reducing exposure to respirable crystalline silica, but water alone does not automatically make an operation compliant or eliminate the hazard. Effective controls, proper training, exposure assessment, and respiratory protection where required all matter.

The goal isn’t simply to get the job done. It’s to make sure the people doing the work can go home safely and continue doing what they love for years to come.
The right tool. The right technique. The right safety practices. Every time.

Happy Labor Day to everyone who puts in the work, solves problems, and takes pride in their craft. 🇺🇸
In the stone industry, the right tools can make a difference—not just in the finished product, but in how we get there.
Pictured here is the Alpha BMP-700 7" brushless polisher with the WSPKIT water supply attachment. Adding water at the point of polishing helps control dust while keeping the process wet and the focus on the finish.
Today is a good reminder to appreciate the fabricators, installers, hardscapers, and tradespeople whose skill and dedication turn raw materials into something remarkable.

A tool is only valuable if it makes the person using it better at what they do.
One thing I've learned from years of working hands-on in this industry is that the “right tool” isn't necessarily the newest, most expensive, or most powerful one.
It's the one that solves the problem in front of you.
It might save 20 minutes on a task.
It might produce a better finish.
It might make a difficult material easier to work with.
It might reduce mistakes, fatigue, or unnecessary steps.
That's why I enjoy getting out from behind the catalog and actually demonstrating tools.
Seeing a product is one thing. Seeing what it can do is completely different.
Whether it's stone, tile, or hardscape, my goal is to understand what professionals are trying to accomplish and help find a better way to get there.
Because when you match the right tool, the right technique, and the right application…
the right tool really can change everything.

Over the years, I’ve learned that the best sales conversations usually don’t start with a product.
They start with a problem.
“This takes too long.”
“We keep struggling with this material.”
“There has to be a better way to do this.”
That’s the part of this industry I enjoy most.
I’ve spent years working with stone, tools, fabrication processes, and now hardscape professionals and distributors. That experience has taught me to look beyond what can I sell you? and ask a much better question:
What are you trying to accomplish, and what’s getting in your way?
Sometimes the answer is a better tool. Sometimes it’s a different process, some training, or simply looking at the problem from another angle.
Products come and go. Being someone people can call when they need a solution—that’s what I want to be known for.
