🎉 As part of our 90th anniversary celebration, we continue our decade by decade look at the history of The Hill Group with a look back at the 2000s.
🏗️ The 2000s marked a period of transformational growth, technical leadership, and major design build achievements. Early in the decade, leadership transitioned as Warren Hill assumed the role of Chairman, while the organization continued to expand its engineering expertise and design build capabilities.
⚙️ During this time, Hill Mechanical Group delivered landmark projects across the region, including district chilled water plants at The Merchandise Mart and Midway Airport, the historic renovation of Soldier Field, and major work for clients such as Motorola, Kraft Foods, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and O’Hare International Airport.
🌱 Sustainability and innovation became defining themes. The firm emerged as a leader in green building and BIM technology, completed HVAC design build for the world’s first LEED CS Gold certified high rise at 111 South Wacker Drive, and supported some of Chicago’s most prominent LEED certified projects.
👥 The decade also brought continued leadership development and growth. With more than 1,000 team members by the mid 2000s, the organization strengthened its operational alignment, expanded its facilities with a move to Franklin Park, and reinforced its commitment to technical excellence and long term growth.
These milestones positioned The Hill Group as a leader in large scale mechanical construction and design build delivery as it entered the next decade.
⏭️ Next month, we’ll continue our journey with a look back at the milestones that shaped our company in the 2010s.
