Lead custom machinery design engineer will need to research, design, evaluate, and document equipment, systems and/or processes to meet customer requirements. Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with customer design requirements, and performance specifications, within estimated project scope.

7+ years machine design experience.
Background in mentoring entry level engineers.
Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic system design and application.
Background with management of machinery build projects & customer correspondence.
Experience designing with commercially available motors, gearboxes, bearings, chains and cylinders.
History of working with a controls engineering group and coordinating design between mechanical and electrical.
Experience with machine design for material handling, appliance, automotive, and food processing a plus.
Familiar with motor, gearbox, and cylinder design calculations.
Reverse engineering experience.
Ability to measure using calipers, micrometers and indicators.
Read and interpret blue prints including part tolerance and finish understanding.
Clear understanding of materials, coatings and heat treat processes to apply in machinery design.
Machining and fabrication background a plus.
3D mechanical design with Solidworks or Inventor required.
Strong communication skills
