System Components
Foundation & Framing: At the base, the foundation wall supports the sill plate, which serves as the mounting point for the floor joists. This skeleton provides the structural integrity for the entire assembly.
Insulation & Sheathing: The insulation cavity (filled with fiberglass batts) sits between studs, while exterior sheathing provides a rigid surface for the building's skin.
Moisture Management: The house wrap (Tyvek) acts as a weather-resistant barrier, allowing v***r to escape while preventing liquid water from entering. The drip cap and water table at the bottom divert water away from the foundation.
Siding Assembly: The horizontal lap siding is installed with a specific exposure (the visible portion of each plank). Furring strips (labeled 1) create a rainscreen gap to improve ventilation and drainage behind the siding.
Roofline Trim: The upper section consists of the soffit (underside), facia (forward-facing trim), and frieze board (topmost wall trim), all capped by a gutter to manage roof runoff.
