There are many universal products on the market today to help accessorize and make days out on the water easier. Sometimes those universal products just dont work as well as you’d hope and can turn into a headache!
This client came to us looking for a solution to his universal cleaning station/bait cutting table. The one he purchased offline was not sturdy, leaned so far aft no matter what he did that it almost hit the engine cowling, and of course it’s hard to cut bait on a table leaned over that far!
We came up with a sturdy, custom option for his boat and ditched the rod holder slide in mounts, for a through bolted, fixed cutting station. Our client was also lacking some extra rod storage so we were happy to help solve that issue as well with 4 additional rod holders.
We also set the height of the cut table to fit our customer and put the slightest bit of angle on it so that while the water and blood will drain off the back, your bait or fish will still stay put on the table while you’re using it.
Long story short, while universal options are great at times, and can usually be had within a day or two. While a custom product built specifically to your application may take a little longer and costs a little more, it is ALWAYS going to function better, be more aesthetically pleasing, and of course will always meet YOUR specific needs far better than any universal product can, not to mention how much longer it is going to last.
Just for reference, this customer brought us his boat on a Monday morning and picked it up Tuesday afternoon while we waited on powder costing. Including waiting on powder coating by Prestige Powder Coating & Fabrication, who by the way ALWAYS kills it with their work, our customer had his custom cut table completed in less than a week, and doesn’t have to worry about fighting with that wobbly universal cut table.
