Weighing in at 4 pounds, this rounding hammer has some pretty intricate decoration on it. The designs are plant inspired, both sides have a centerpiece of a flowers of sorts, though quite geometric. The flowers are framed by an ornamental border band of punched designs. Flanking either side is a simple tree form.

The faces are rectangular in form. The flat face is heavily crowned. The rounding face is a proper 'squashed ball' radius. They both retain their bronze colors from tempering.

Hung on a 15.75" hickory handle. The top half is octagonal in cross section, transitioning to oval near the bottom. The bottom has been flame blackened and oiled to better seal it. The eye carries a walnut wedge and two steel tubular wedges.

Up for sale is this lovely 377 pound hornless anvil.
Hornless anvils were one of a plethora of different styles of anvils produced. Some for specific tasks/trades and some simply featuring, or lacking certain features. A hornless anvil like this could have been used for most any task where a horn was not needed. For heavy striking work and tool making this anvil would excel.

Most likely made by Mousehole forge, this anvil has excellent rebound. A clean flat face with a generous amount of support under it. The edges are decent and useable. This anvil would be excellent for heavier striking work without taking up much room.
