Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage of the first responders, service members, and everyday people who stepped forward to help others.

Patriot Day is also a National Day of Service and Remembrance — a reminder that protecting our communities begins with looking out for one another.

Preparedness, awareness, and the willingness to act when someone needs help are all forms of service.

Today, we remember. We honor. And we carry forward that spirit of care. ❤️

September is Peripheral Artery Disease Awareness Month. ❤️🩺🦵

Peripheral artery disease, or PAD, occurs when narrowed arteries reduce blood flow, most commonly to the legs and feet. Symptoms can include leg pain or cramping while walking, numbness or weakness, slow-healing wounds, or changes in skin temperature or color.

PAD is more than a circulation problem. It can also be a sign of widespread atherosclerosis and is associated with an increased risk of heart attack and stroke.

Awareness matters. Recognizing symptoms, understanding personal risk factors, and discussing concerns with a healthcare provider can help support earlier diagnosis and better cardiovascular health.

September is National Cholesterol Education Month. ❤️🩺⚡

High cholesterol can contribute to plaque buildup in the arteries and increase the risk of coronary artery disease, heart attack, and other serious cardiovascular events.

Knowing your cholesterol levels and taking steps to protect your heart are important parts of prevention. And because sudden cardiac arrest can happen unexpectedly, preparedness matters too.

Prevent what you can. Be prepared for what you can’t predict.

Heart rhythm issues are not always easy to recognize, but they should never be ignored. 🫀

September is National AFib Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about atrial fibrillation, the most common type of irregular heart rhythm.💜

AFib, or atrial fibrillation, can sometimes feel like a racing heart, fluttering in the chest, shortness of breath, fatigue, dizziness, or weakness. In some cases, it may cause no obvious symptoms at all.

AFib is not the same as sudden cardiac arrest, but it is an important heart health condition that can increase the risk of stroke, heart failure, and other serious complications.

Talk to your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms. Awareness is an important step toward protecting your heart health.

And as always, emergency readiness matters. If a person collapses, is unresponsive, and is not breathing normally, call 911, begin CPR, and use an AED if one is available. ⚡

Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, we honor those affected by overdose and help raise awareness about the importance of emergency response. 🚑

An overdose emergency can begin with respiratory arrest, especially with opioids, and may progress to cardiac arrest. In those critical moments, CPR and an AED can help save a life.

Preparedness matters. Knowing how to recognize an emergency, call for help, begin CPR, and use an AED can make a life-saving difference while waiting for advanced medical care.

Awareness saves lives. Training saves lives. Action saves lives.❤️

Your heart health is shaped by more than what you can see or feel. High blood pressure, elevated blood sugar, and unhealthy cholesterol levels can develop without noticeable symptoms while gradually increasing your risk of heart disease, heart attack, and stroke. ❤️

🩺 Regular screenings help you understand your numbers and identify potential concerns early. Talk with your healthcare provider about how often you should be tested and what your results mean for your individual health.

📊 Prevention starts with awareness. Know your numbers, understand your risks, and take informed steps to protect your heart.

⚡ Have you ever wondered why an AED uses two pads?

The pads work as a pair. They allow the AED to analyze the heart’s rhythm and determine whether a shock is needed.

If the AED detects a shockable rhythm, it sends electrical current to one pad. The current travels across the chest and heart to the second pad, then returns to the AED, completing the circuit.

That is why pad placement matters. One pad is placed on the upper-right side of the chest and the other on the lower-left side, helping position the heart between them.

AEDs provide clear diagrams and voice prompts to guide the rescuer through the process. Just turn it on and follow the instructions. ❤️🫀
