They owned a potato house and operated out of a small office on the side. The business was named after their father, Frank Martin. In the 1940's they moved a small building to the present location. his building and started to sell farming supplies. started selling the agricultural line of John Deere equipment. At this time there were nine John Deere dealers in Aroostook County with a population of 95,000. The potato industry in the county was in full swing. A couple of years later the company started to sell crawlers for forestry applications in order to diversify its overall product line. In 1965, the skidder was introduced which replaced the obsolete crawler for forestry applications. In 1972 the dealership was totally destroyed by fire. The building was immediately reconstructed and the business was moved back in the same year. Also in 1972 the business was bought by Reno and Doris Ouellette. Doris is the daughter of Antonio. Frank Martin Sons carried both the agricultural and industrial lines of John Deere equipment until 1978 when the agricultural and consumer products were dropped. The dealership then focused its sales in the line of forestry and construction. The dealership also expanded by picking up the Prentice line of log loaders in the mid 70's and the Tigercat forestry line in the mid 90's. In the winter of 1991-1992 the company added a second story to the existing building making room for more offices and parts storage. In mid 2009, the dealership expanded by adding a branch location in Madison, therefore allowing the business to serve the entire state of Maine. This addition allowed the family owned business to vastly improve its product support coverage for its customers. Frank Martin Sons is now run by Reno and Doris's two sons Dave and Steve. They continue to be Tigercat and Prentice dealers and have since picked up the complete construction line of LiuGong and Kawasaki.
