CGRS CGRS, Inc. specializes in Environmental, Construction, Engineering and Compliance services Our customers are at the core of everything we do.

began its environmental compliance journey in 1987 as a leak detection services company for owners and operators of underground petroleum tank systems. Forthcoming EPA regulations—40 CFR 280—were to require regular testing of UST systems for leaks. The founder and current President/CEO of CGRS bought some tank and line testing equipment and then hit the road. The industry and the testing equipment

were in their infancy and the processes were less than ideal. CGRS, always searching for better options for our customers, became a Tracer Tight® affiliate in 1992 and began testing underground tanks and piping using Tracer. The advantages of this technology were numerous and the business grew quickly. Tracer Research was eventually purchased by Praxair and CGRS continues to use the Tracer Tight® method of release detection to this day. CGRS

It didn’t take long to realize that if we identified a problem with a customer’s fuel system,
they expected CGRS to provide solutions. Our Environmental and Construction departments were created to address the environmental compliance issues that were being identified during the inspection and testing of fuel systems. The goal was now turnkey environmental, compliance and construction services for the petroleum industry. As the industry developed, CGRS continued to evolve to meet the demands of a changing regulatory environment. As you can see throughout the website, our service offerings have diversified significantly from tank and line leak testing and environmental remediation services. Yet, our primary focus is still environmental compliance for the petroleum industry. Our staff recognizes that we are nothing without our customers. For over 25 years they have entrusted us with their environmental compliance management. They are why we continue to be on the lookout for new services, new processes and new ways to be the best. Innovative, practical, cost effective solutions are always the goal.

While emergency response situations are not an everyday occurrence for our Repairs & Upgrades team, we are fully equipped to respond quickly and safely when unexpected scenarios arise.

One recent project took place at a gas station in Wyoming, after a vehicle struck unprotected tank vent lines in the parking lot. The impact sheared off the Regular Unleaded vent pipe just above grade, creating a serious safety hazard by releasing gasoline v***rs at ground level where they could potentially ignite from nearby ignition sources.

Our team mobilized immediately to secure the site and complete the necessary repairs. Crews broke out and removed concrete, exposed the damaged vent lines, repaired the piping, installed a U-shaped bollard to protect the vent system from future impacts, patched the concrete, and finished the project by painting the vent pipes and bollard.

CGRS Repairs & Upgrades crews routinely handle fuel system repairs, equipment replacements, compliance upgrades, concrete and bollard installations, piping repairs, and other critical maintenance needs to help keep facilities safe, compliant, and operational.

If your facility needs repairs, upgrades, or support with an unexpected issue, CGRS is ready to help.

CGRS supported a private development client with environmental assessment and regulatory coordination associated with a historical oil and gas well site in Colorado. The project involved evaluation of site conditions and preparation of technical documentation to support a local land use and setback modification request associated with future redevelopment activities.

We developed an Environmental Testing Plan, coordinated investigation scope approval with the local jurisdiction, and completed field investigation activities including soil v***r screening and subsurface soil sampling. CGRS subsequently prepared an Environmental Assessment Report summarizing site conditions and investigation findings, which was incorporated into the project application submitted to the local jurisdiction.

Historical oil and gas infrastructure can create unique planning and development challenges, but with the right technical strategy and regulatory coordination, projects can continue moving forward.

If your team is evaluating development opportunities with environmental or setback considerations, CGRS is here to help.

🚨Spring Maintenance Reminder: Stay Ahead on Compliance

The seasons are changing and it is the perfect time to get ahead on routine maintenance. Don’t forget to:

✔️Paint your lids
✔️Clean your manways
✔️Check for debris, water, or visible damage

These small tasks are often overlooked, but they’re also some of the first things inspectors notice. Staying on top of basic maintenance now can help prevent compliance issues (and costly fixes) later.

If you’re unsure what to look for or want a second set of eyes, our compliance team is here to help.
