It’s Friday! For today’s Italian door, we have one from a church. As you can see, there is actually two sets of wooden doors here. The original grand doors are extremely heavy - that is why there is a second set of smaller doors that givens the illusion they are cut out from the large doors. The more you know!

Happy Friday! Today’s wooden doors are the originals from the Florence Duomo. After the facade was rebuilt in the 19th century, the original doors were preserved in the Galleria dell’Accademia, where these photos were taken. The original doors are considered masterpieces of early Renaissance art, created by Lorenzo Ghiberti. There is your history lesson for today!
