🌏🇨🇳🇯🇵 What an incredible experience!

I was honored to be invited by the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay’s Business in China program and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to participate in a unique international learning opportunity focused on exporting, global manufacturing, and international business.

The trip included factory visits with industry leaders such as Alibaba, Plexus, and Shenhao, providing firsthand insight into global supply chains, advanced manufacturing processes, and international business operations. Seeing how companies operate on a worldwide scale offered valuable lessons that can be brought back to our businesses and communities here at home.

Beyond the business side of the trip, we had the opportunity to experience the rich history and culture of the region through visits to Buddhist temples, cultural landmarks, and historic sites throughout China and Tokyo, Japan. These experiences provided a deeper understanding of the traditions, values, and people that help shape the global marketplace.

A sincere thank you to UW-Green Bay, the Business in China program, and the Small Business Development Center for extending this opportunity. The knowledge gained, connections made, and experiences shared will have a lasting impact.

Learning never stops, and sometimes the best classroom is halfway around the world.

Aircraft MRO Facility Expansion Solution

In August 2024, a major aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility was facing a growing challenge: limited hangar space was restricting operational efficiency and slowing maintenance workflows. The client needed a solution that could maximize existing space without requiring costly facility expansion.

The Spark Ops Solution

Spark Ops Metal Works was selected to design and fabricate a modular, multi-functional maintenance platform system utilizing patented truss technology from Infinite Shapes⁠. Engineered in-house, the platforms combined lightweight aluminum construction with robust steel components, creating a durable and adaptable solution for aircraft maintenance operations.

Deployment & Results

Under the leadership of Spark Ops Founder Bryan Perl, a dedicated installation team deployed three custom-built 40’ x 30’ maintenance structures at the client’s facility in Macon.

Thanks to the modular design and height-adjustable configuration, the entire installation was completed in just two days using minimal tools. The platforms can be rapidly reconfigured to accommodate different aircraft sizes, tooling requirements, and hangar layouts, providing the client with significantly improved workspace flexibility and operational efficiency.

This project highlights how innovative engineering, modular construction, and rapid deployment can solve complex aerospace maintenance challenges while maximizing the use of existing facilities.
