We were proud to attend the APWA Sacramento Chapter’s National Public Works Week Banquet on May 20, celebrating the people and projects that keep our communities strong.

This year’s APWA theme, “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” was reflected throughout the evening, highlighting the dedication and impact of public works professionals across our region.

Congratulations to Regina Duarte-Cave for her Top 10 Leader of the Year award, and to Kristina Wigginton, Rhea Salvador, Kristine Courdy, PE, MPA, LEED AP, Jose Sanchez, Jennifer Claiborne, Darrah Ramsbotham, Maria Lopez, Melissa Jones, Daniel Kehrer PE QSD/P CFM and Samantha Tuttle on your well-earned Manager of the Year recognition. We also extend a special congratulations to our own Lana Torlak, P.E. on receiving the 2026 scholarship award. We are incredibly proud of her achievement.

Safety starts with you. 👷‍♂️🚧

This week, our team participated in a Lunch & Learn led by Brian Stephenson focused on office, field, vehicle, and construction site safety. The presentation covered real-world safety awareness, field visit best practices, construction site protocols, and the importance of staying alert and prepared in every environment.

From understanding blind spots around heavy equipment to proper PPE, traffic awareness, and safe site access, the session reinforced that safety is everyone’s responsibility, whether in the office, on a project site, or behind the wheel.

At Dokken, field experience is an important part of what we do, and trainings like these help ensure our teams stay safe while continuing to support our clients and communities throughout California.

A big thank you to Brian for sharing his experience and practical insights with the team!

Thank you to the City of Rancho Cordova, Garrett Gatewood, Micah Runner, ICMA-CM, Sandy Runner, and countless others for hosting an amazing 2026 Spring Service Day! This incredible community-wide event brought together residents, businesses, and organizations to make a meaningful impact through hands-on service projects across the city.

Dokken Engineering was proud to be a sponsor, and our Dokken Cares volunteer team had a great time supporting community clean-up efforts, bike repair and restoration, tree planting to enhance local green spaces, and assisting local animal rescue and service organizations.

We recently celebrated Tony Powers well-earned retirement alongside colleagues and friends. After more than 17 years at Dokken and an incredible 41-year career, Tony leaves behind a lasting legacy as a Senior Structures Engineer and a passionate advocate for active transportation.

His dedication to creating safer, more connected communities, especially through his love of bicycling, has made a meaningful impact on both our team and the communities we serve.

We are incredibly grateful for his leadership and years of service. Wishing Tony all the best in retirement and many great rides ahead! 🚲
