As another summer internship comes to a close, I want to recognize the hard work and dedication of our intern this season, Avery Thompson. Avery is a second-year Civil Engineering student at Clemson University and a Florence-area native. Throughout the summer, she embraced every opportunity to learn and approached each task with professionalism.
At Hanna Engineering, we believe the best way to learn engineering is through firsthand experience, and this summer provided opportunities to do just that.
During her internship, Avery gained exposure to both the technical and business sides of consulting engineering. From assisting with the daily operations of our firm to visiting active job sites throughout our region, she gained valuable insight into the profession.
We appreciate the enthusiasm and willingness to learn that Avery demonstrated throughout the summer. We are proud to invest in the next generation of engineers and wish her continued success in her education and future career.

The Latta Tank is almost complete. All we need to do is to fill it with water, perform all testing and complete the electrical portion of the project. The Tank will hold 300,000 gallons of water and is 135' tall.

A New Tank is coming in Marion County. This tank is going to hold 500,000 gallons and will be a single pedestal design....

A New Tank is coming in Marion County. This tank is going to hold 500,000 gallons and will be a single pedestal design. Most of the steel is on site and being welded into small pieces that will ultimately become larger pieces. Once most of the welding is done, a large crane will host all of the larger pieces into place.

Excited to announce that the Town of Latta has been awarded a $1,491,600 grant through the South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) for the Northwest Latta Sewer Upgrades project! This is a major investment into the future of our community and a much-needed step toward improving infrastructure, protecting public health, and positioning Latta for continued growth and development.

This project will help strengthen and modernize portions of our sewer system that have aged over time, improve reliability for residents and businesses, reduce the risk of sewer failures, and increase the town’s ability to support future residential and economic development opportunities. Investments like this are critical for small rural communities as we work to maintain quality services and improve quality of life for our citizens.

We are grateful to the South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority for recognizing the needs of our community and believing in the future of Latta. RIA grants are designed to help communities improve water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure while supporting long-term sustainability and economic growth across South Carolina.

This accomplishment would not be possible without the hard work, collaboration, and commitment of town staff, council members, consultant, engineers, grant writers, and supporters who continue advocating for progress in our town. Together, we are making meaningful investments that will benefit our residents for generations to come.

For months now, we have been waiting on the trucks to show up with loads of rolled steel that will become a water tank. Small pieces of steel are unloaded and like an Erector set, small pieces become larger pieces and in the next few weeks, the larger pieces will get assembled to create the final product
