We know new bills are coming.

Big win for New York! 💵

On November 21st 2025, Governor Kathy Hochul signed bill A.7929A/S.4153A into law, which makes it mandatory for retailers and food-service businesses to accept cash for in-person purchases.

Why this matters for consumers:
• Cash stays a protected payment option.
• No extra fees for paying with cash at the counter.
• Helps protect seniors, underserved communities, and the unbanked.

Why this is great for ATM operators and retailers:
• Cash remains a required option at checkout.
• Stores that tried to go “cash-free” now need access to reliable cash.
• More opportunity for ATM placements, and cash availability.

🗓️ The law officially takes effect March 2026.

New York just joined the states protecting your privacy, freedom, and choice—and making sure everyone still has access to cash.

Prohibits food stores and retail establishments from refusing to accept payment in cash; provides a civil penalty will be assessed for such actions.
