Leadership in action means showing up for the communities we serve.

Through involvement with the Flint Watershed Coalition, ROWE’s Senior Landscape Architect II, Doug Schultz, PLA, is helping expand environmental education, create opportunities for individuals with disabilities to experience the water, and inspire the next generation to care about water quality.

ROWE’s Landscape Designer II, Blake Strozier, brings his landscape architecture perspective to the City of Flint Planning Commission, advocating for thoughtful development, more beautiful spaces, and decisions grounded in both professional expertise and hometown insight.

Similarly, ROWE's Landscape Designer I, Alison Swanson, has the opportunity to make an impact to her hometown community and her family vacation spot, working on projects from concept to construction.

Designing spaces that are accessible to everyone isn’t just a requirement, it’s a responsibility we carry 🌿

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements set the foundation for accessible spaces. Universal design builds on that foundation, creating spaces that are usable, welcoming, and engaging for people of all ages and abilities including those with sensory needs or different ways of interacting with a space.

These photos highlight our recent project with Sanilac County Parks and Recreation Commission, Evergreen Park, where accessibility wasn’t just checked off; it was thoughtfully designed in. From smooth, connected pathways to inclusive play and recreation features, every element was planned to go beyond mobility and support a wider range of experiences.

Because the future of landscape architecture isn’t just about meeting standards. It’s about expanding them to create spaces where everyone can belong. 🌱
