The addition and renovation of the historic Main Street Bed & Breakfast Inn in Flemington NJ, which is currently a privately owned house, was completed in the fall of 2022. As part of the project, we took great care to preserve the architectural detailing and color scheme of the original 1880 Victorian house.
The 2-story addition at the rear of the house includes an upgraded kitchen area and a new family room on the first floor, along with a new master suite on the second floor. To ensure that the new addition seamlessly blended with the historic structure, a new rear porch was added that mimics the details of the historic front porch. This porch creates a transitional space to the backyard while also preserving the historical character of the property.
Throughout the construction process, we followed historic preservation best practices to maintain the integrity of the original building. We utilized high-performance materials for the addition, which blended seamlessly into the existing home and maintained the look and feel of the original building. Some special details include Warmboard hydronic radiant flooring, an elevator, and custom-built copper Yankee gutters.
We are proud of the final result, which provides modern amenities for the growing family while respecting the historic character of the property. More before and after pictures will be available soon.
