The 6R80 is an excellent, durable transmission (with proper maintenance).
My oldest one has 210K+ miles on it, and still pulls trailers without complaining. I have changed fluid and filter twice in the 17 years I have owned the truck. Ask me about saving 25% on your order.

An era of Ford engineering has officially come to an end. After 21 years of production, the last 6R80 six-speed automatic transmission rolled off the line at the Livonia Transmission plant on April 29th, 2026. While a few main controls will continue to be built for service needs through August, the main assembly line has ceased all production. The 6R80 was a foundational component for Ford, powering everything from F-150s to Mustangs for over two decades.
The final units represent the end of a lineage known for its durability and versatility. As Ford continues its transition toward 10-speed automatics and electric drivetrains, the retirement of the 6R80 marks the closing of a significant chapter in internal combustion history. For the workers at Livonia, the last "case" through the line was a somber but proud milestone for a transmission that defined a generation of Ford performance.
