At our Ossineke facility, precision grinding operations support the production of deep hole drilling tools, including single flute, two flute, and double crimp gun drills.

These applications require tightly controlled geometry and surface finish to maintain straightness, effective chip evacuation, and consistent performance at extended cutting depths.

Two flute and double crimp designs are produced using a two-wheel grinding process, with dedicated roughing and finishing wheels to achieve the required form and finish on Star Cutter’s NXT platform.

This approach supports repeatability across tool designs while maintaining the standards required for deep hole drilling applications.

Consistent performance starts with process control.

Grinding Capability Built for Changing Production Demands

In an environment where flexibility matters more than expansion, grinding platforms need to adapt.

The NXT 5-axis tool and cutter grinding system is designed to support a wide range of tool geometries within a compact footprint, allowing manufacturers to run both small and large diameter tools without committing to dedicated setups.

This approach supports better machine utilization, greater flexibility, and the ability to adjust as production requirements shift.

What does it take to stay in business for 100 years?

It comes down to the relationships built along the way.

With customers,
with partners,
and across the teams behind the work.

That consistency, earned over time, is what keeps performance moving forward

As tool geometries become more complex, grinding is no longer a single operation. It becomes a system that must manage multiple axes, profiles, and tool forms within tight tolerances.

For applications where complexity and control define performance, the UTG Series is built for that level of precision.

Designed as a CNC driven universal tool grinder, the UTG platform supports a wide range of applications including broaches, hobs, shaper cutters, and other complex tool geometries. Its multi axis configuration enables precise coordination between linear and rotary movements, supporting accurate manufacturing and reconditioning of advanced cutting tools.

In these environments, performance depends on maintaining alignment across the entire grinding process:

• Multi axis CNC control for synchronized grinding motion
• Capability to support long and complex tool geometries
• Integrated probing for accurate setup and positioning
• Feedback systems to maintain positioning accuracy
• Programmable dressing to preserve profile integrity

As application complexity increases, grinding performance depends on how well the system maintains control across every variable.

This is where a system approach becomes critical.

The focus is not just on grinding the tool. It is on maintaining accuracy, alignment, and repeatability across the full geometry of the part.

Evaluate how the UTG Series supports your most demanding grinding applications.
