A welder is responsible for assembling pieces of metal together or repairing damage in metal components using heavy machinery that emits high heat, melting the metal into shape. This is a full-time position, and the duties include reviewing blueprints, cutting metal into the appropriate shape, and smoothing molten metal to remove creases.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements).
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
• Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical and horizontal).
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
• Lift and move heavy objects
• Keep work area clean
• Observe all safety rules, company policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience: Two (2) years of experience (preferred)
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) (preferred)
• Physical Demands: This individual may be required to lift items up to 50 lbs.
