Brewers Gym started out in my dad's garage in the mid 90's. My father purchased equipment and allowed all the kids in the community to work out for free. We simply called it the gym. In the early 2000's we moved to a boxed in shed on our property that we called the barn. A handful of us started training to enter a local MMA competition so we decided to name our group. I was thinking on calling it Black Mountain Gym. My father had recently been diagnosed with cancer so my good friend Chris Montanaro suggested calling our group Brewers Gym to honor dad. The next few months that followed we took local MMA by storm winning several titles and 2 state championships and 2 state runner ups. Our fight team fearured some dominant warriors like Bill Petra who simply refusef to lose.We then rented a small building in Evarts and TJ ran a gym in the basement basically just to fund our MMA training. We teamed up with Dan Howard shortly before and he had his Dojo upstairs. In the summer of 2006 TJ was given 3 months to live and I took over the gym. A few years later as physical fitness became more popular we simply outgrew what we referred to as the iron dungeon and decided to relocate. Around this time is when powerlifting exploded. Adam Carr led a team that consisted of George Cottrell, Josh Snelling, Brandon Bell and himself that was untouchable. TJ also trained local athletes, many became stars in their respective sport including Jake Middleton who made the all state football team on both sides of the ball. Present day we are now located at the old Verda school building and once again neighbors with Dan Howard and the best martial arts Dojo in this county. All praises to God the future looks bright. Business is good. We have some tremendous local athletes training at our facility and the future of powerlifting looks bright with guys like Kyle Wynn, Derek White, Bryan Napier and teens John Cloud and Luke Carr recently performing well at the TJ Brewer Memorial power meet. None of this would be possible without the work of the founders Tony and TJ Brewer. This weekend we honor you. Thank You!
